How Much Does Car Detailing Cost in South Africa?
There is no single price for car detailing. It depends on the detailer, the city, the size of your vehicle and, most of all, the level of service you choose — from a quick clean to a multi-year ceramic coating.
Rather than quote a vague range, here are the actual prices we charge as a mobile detailer in Johannesburg, so you can see exactly what each level costs. Prices last updated September 2026.
What affects the cost of a car detail?
- Service level. A wash and protection is a very different job from a machine polish, and a polish is very different from a ceramic coating that needs full decontamination and prep first.
- Vehicle size. SUVs and bakkies have more surface area than sedans and hatchbacks, so they are priced separately.
- Mobile call-out. We come to your home, office or estate. A R200 call-out fee applies to most services and is waived on our Full Exterior ceramic coatings.
- Add-ons. An engine bay clean is R399 (already included in the Signature Detail), headlight restoration starts from R250 per pair, and glass and leather coatings can be added to a package.

Which service do you actually need?
Regular upkeep: a Quick Detail or a Wash & WetCoat keeps a well-kept car clean and protected between bigger jobs.
Dull or swirled paint: a Paint Enhancement or Signature Detail includes a machine polish to bring back clarity and gloss.

Car detailing cost: common questions
How much does a basic car detail cost?
Our Quick Detail In & Out starts at R1,000 for a sedan or hatchback and R1,200 for an SUV or bakkie. A Wash & WetCoat, which adds a wheel deep clean and WetCoat protection on the paint and wheels, is R999 for a sedan and R1,299 for an SUV.
Why do SUVs and bakkies cost more than sedans?
They have more paint, glass and interior to work on, so the job takes longer and uses more product. That is why we price sedans and hatchbacks separately from SUVs and bakkies.
Is there a call-out fee for mobile detailing?
A R200 call-out fee applies to most of our services. It is waived on our two Full Exterior ceramic coating packages (the 12-Month and the 3-Year Premium).
Do I have to pay a deposit?
A deposit secures your booking and is non-refundable if you cancel. It applies mostly to ceramic coatings: R1,000 for the 12-month coating and R2,500 for the 3-year systems. For detailing packages we confirm whether one applies when you enquire.
How much does ceramic coating cost?
Our 12-month Full Exterior ceramic coating is R4,999 for a sedan and R5,999 for an SUV. Our Gyeon 3-year options start at R8,999 for paint only, and the 3-year Premium system is R13,000 for a sedan and R15,000 for an SUV.
